Hey fellas!
I'll be leaving you all with the last part of Spitified in today's post. Take your time and soak in all the beautiful places and the mesmerizing view of Spiti. There are so many reasons to travel because when you travel, you learn, have adventures, meet new people, feel more alive, get to know yourself a little more, experience new cultures, know new languages and the most important of all, life is too short to not travel. Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things like air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky, the mountains. The journey changes you and it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart and on your body. You take something with you and hopefully, you leave something good behind.
Lhalung - Dhankar - Tabo : At times, we reach the heights of laziness and even being on a trip to such a beautiful place, we literally failed to wake up early. Keeping the laziness aside, we still managed to be ready on time and went ahead to have our breakfast. All happy and excited for our last day, we drove off for Lhalung. The name Lhalun literally means 'land of the gods' (lha = deities, lung = land). This mountain is said to change colour depending on the moods of the deities; red showing anger, yellow for happiness etc. It is a small and very beautiful village which has around 45 homes and is 14 km from the main road. Our next destination was Dhankar Monastery. It is situated at an elevation of 3894 metres in the Spiti valley above Dhankar village. The complex is built on a 1000-foot high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers. It is one of the world's most spectacular settings for a monastery. Dang means cliff and Kar or Khar means fort. Hence, Dhankar means fort on a cliff. The final destination for us was Tabo. The town lies on the road between Rekong Peo and Kaza. The town surrounds a Buddhist monastery which is said to be over a thousand years old. You can also go to the Tabo caves. A short 75 step hike from the main road and one can reach the Tabo meditation caves. These caves are where the monks meditate for months during winters. From the caves, one can get a panoramic bird's eye view of the entire town of Tabo and the surrounding regions. You can also tie prayer flags at the top for some good Karma.

Also, giving you all a glimpse of Kunzum Pass. Kunzum Pass is a high mountain pass on the eastern Kunzum Range of the Himalayas some 122 km from Manali. It is said that the drivers, travellers and passerby seek blessings of Kunzum mata before undertaking their journey. It is situated at an altitude of 4590m.
Outfit Details : It wasn't much cold outside and we were just going to drive and visit monasteries for the day, so, I went ahead and grabbed my leather jacket from Shein and paired it up along with my black denim from H&M. Also, layered up with a white printed tee from Shein and for footwear, I'm loving my current favourite, Chuck Taylor, my pair of versatile white converse. I believe in keeping my basics right for any day. I live in them almost throughout the year except for some fancy days. Also, when traveling, remember to travel light as I always say.
Here we are, at the end of the journey of Spiti valley. Leaving you all craving for Spiti and its beauty. Somewhere, after writing and seeing all the pictures, I'm left feeling all nostalgic. Also, we had decided to leave for Chandrataal Lake the next day and we also left for the lake in the morning but we ended up coming back to Kaza after covering around 25 kms. We didn't visit any new place that day instead we just slept the whole day long just to party again in the evening. Such was the warmth of Spiti valley that we struck off Chandrataal Lake from our trip just to spend one more day in Kaza. Spiti, you have my heart forever. Happily Spitified!
Until next time...
xoxo
